The Aberfeldy Sports Club Project So Far

Background

TASC has been formed for the purpose of developing and operating new clubhouse facilities on the site of the existing clubhouse currently used by the Aberfeldy Golf Club.

The new clubhouse will include segregated men’s and women’s changing rooms, showers, toilets and meeting rooms, a bar/restaurant and areas for leisure and lifestyle events. The new clubhouse will be available for use by all amateur sports clubs and available for hire by the wider community.

The concept of a mixed-use clubhouse was the brainchild of the Aberfeldy Rugby Football Club (ARFC) and the Aberfeldy Golf Club (AGC) both of which have a need for modern clubhouse facilities in the locality. However, it has become clear that there is a much wider need for fully serviced clubhouse facilities across the non-sporting community.

The Concept

Aberfeldy has a vibrant community and is blessed with perfect topography for outdoor sporting and leisure activities.

There is, however, no central hub or facility to service the high demand for changing rooms, training rooms, post activity bar/catering facilities and associated events.

The fact that the existing golf clubhouse is in poor repair and lacking the facilities expected by today’s golfers, and that the adjacent rugby pitch has no facilities has brought AGC and ARFC together to consider their options.

In doing so, the vision of a centrally located clubhouse facility with flexibility to meet the needs of the wider sporting and non-sporting community was born.

The new clubhouse facilities will be available to all regardless of age, sex, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion or belief.

Support for The Project

Formal support for the development of a new clubhouse has been received from over 40 sports clubs, associations and local organisations and by representatives of both local and national government. A local initiative,’ Aberfeldy Healthiest Town’ is being promoted by GPs and other individuals. They see the new development as pivotal to furthering their aims.
